Historic “Old Quarr” walk

  • Quarr Abbey Car Park Quarr Road Ryde, England, PO33 4ES United Kingdom (map)

Walk via Abbey church through woodland and on to the Old Abbey ruins with the very knowledgeable chairman of the ”Friends of Quarr”. The walk (on private Quarr land) takes you around the ancient ruins and describes the workings of a medieval monastery, you are very welcome to ask questions!

Quarr is a great place to see the red squirrels and the whole site has a very special peaceful atmosphere. There lots of places to sit and ponder and it’s close to lovely walks. The Abbey church itself is awesome in the true sense

After the walk, participants can then return to the car park via the bridleway or continue onto Fishbourne beach and take part in a beach clean led by members of Fishbourne Parish council. Equipment provided.

To book: contact Fishbourne Parish Clerk at clerk@fishbourneiow.org.uk

The event is free but any donations to Quarr Abbey gratefully received.

No age restriction, however numbers will have to be limited to 20.

Parking: Quarr Abbey car park. Ample car parking.

Accessibility: The paths are reasonably accessible but the private field may be uneven and not fit for wheelchairs. The beach will also be uneven.
