Come and join Project Seagrass for a wade to survey the seagrass meadow at Seaview, Isle of Wight as part of the Biosphere Festival in June 2025.
Seagrass is a marine flowering plant, that spreads to create meadows which provide a home for marine life, support our fisheries, take up carbon and help to improve water quality and reduce coastal erosion.
We’ll be exploring the meadow to assess seagrass health, biodiversity, and reproductive stages—all contributing valuable data to support local conservation and monitoring efforts.
Activity Includes:
Meeting and safety briefing. Wading through the seagrass meadow using transects and collecting data to aid our scientific monitoring.
Recording seagrass health & biodiversity
Observing reproductive stages of seagrass
Contributing to citizen science & marine conservation efforts.
All equipment will be explained and provided to monitor and survey the seagrass.
